Typhoon Nina (international publicize Nock-Ten) maintained its strength as it continued to touch towards the Bicol region, weather minister to PAGASA reported in a Saturday night bulletin.
At 10 p.m., Nina was 345 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, taking into consideration maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour, and gusts of taking place to 215 kph. Estimated rainfall amount within the typhoon's 500 km diameter was from self-denying to muggy.

A 2.5 meter high storm surge was also possible in both Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur, with a meter high storm surge possible in the other provinces, and with open sea wave heights to be between 4.1 to 14 meters.
Signal No. 1 was meanwhile raised over:
Metro Manila,
Bataan,
southern Zambales,
Pampanga,
Nueva Ecija,
Bulacan,
Cavite,
Laguna,
Batangas,
Rizal,
Quezon including Polillo Island,
Camarines Norte,
Aurora,
Romblon,
Marinduque,
Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island,
Oriental Mindoro
Aklan,
Capiz,
Samar,
Eastern Samar,
Biliran,
Leyte, and
Bantayan Island.
Open sea wave heights along these areas would be from 1.25 to four meters.
Aside from the possible storm surges, PAGASA also warned that sea travel was risky over the seaboards of Luzon.
With Nina moving west-northwest at 13 kph, PAGASA projected that the typhoon would make landfall over Catanduanes the afternoon or evening of Sunday - Christmas Day.
PAGASA also prdicted that Nina would be:
in the vicinity of Virac, Catanduanes by Sunday evening,
105 kms west-southwest of Sangley Point, Cavite by Monday evening,
395 kms west-southwest of Iba, Zambales by Tuesday evening
225 kms north-northwest of Pagasa Island, Palawan and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday evening.
