MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang Palace has declared class and work suspensions for January 26 and February 3, 2017 in some areas of Luzon and Visayas.
Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea through the authority of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed proclamations No. 132 to 135 declaring special non-working holiday in Cadiz, Negros Occidental; Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija; Biñan, Laguna and Province of Bulacan.
Proclamation No. 132: On Thursday, January 26, 2017, the city of Cadiz marks the celebration of the 43rd Dinagsa Festival.
Proclamation No. 133: The city of Cabanatuan will celebrate its 67th Foundation Anniversary on Friday, February 3.
Proclamation No. 134: The city of Biñan in Laguna will also celebrate on February 3 its 72nd Liberation Day.
Proclamation No. 135: The Province of Bulacan will celebrate the birth anniversary of Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Blas F. Ople, on February 3. "Ople is a son of Bulacan, a model citizen and public officer to the Filipino people, specially the Bulakenyos," Palace said.
Malacañang Palace said that it is proper that the people on the said areas be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.
As defined in the Administrative Code of 1987, Book III, Chapter 2, Section 4, Proclamations are "acts of the President fixing a date or declaring a status or condition of public moment or interest, upon the existence of which the operation of a specific law or regulation is made to depend, shall be promulgated in proclamations which shall have the force of an executive order."
