NOTORIOUS ‘AKYAT-BAHAY’ GANG BUSTED IN PANIQUI, TARLAC, 3 ARRESTED 29 STOLEN ITEMS RECOVERED

Paniqui, Tarlac - A notorious “akyat-bahay” gang was busted after the arrest of the leader and 2 members and recovered 29 stolen items.

In his report, PSupt Joel Mendoza, OIC chief of police, identified those arrested as Rowel De Guzman, AKA “Weng”, 30 of Barangay Poblacion Norte, Mark Franco y Macalino, 26 of H. Cruz., Brgy. Matatalaib, Tarlac City, Benjie Miano, 20, of Barangay Ablang-Sapang, Moncada, as the gang leader.

The 4th gang member identified as Aurel Lucena, 34, of Barangay Patalan, was killed in a shoot-out with the police during a bungled buy-bust operation.

The recovered stolen items included 9 cellphones, 6 laptops and netbooks, 3 digital cameras,a computer set and a 40” flat screen TV which were recovered from the house of Lucena.

According to PSInsp Randy Niegos, head of this town’s Police Intelligence Unit, the arrest of the robbery gang was prompted by the report of Sheryl Martin whose house was robbed of a computer set, a laptop, 2 touch screen cellphones, among others.

“Finally, we have busted this notorious Akyat-bahay gang who have victimized several residents here. This is the result of the determined efforts of our Intel Unit headed by Niegos”, said Mendoza.

Niegos also disclosed that the gang was also involved in peddling illegal drugs.

“Nang napatay sa armed encounter si Lucena, mahigit 10 grams na shabu ang aming nakuha sa kanya. Sa bahay din niya na-recover ang mga ninakaw nilang mga gamit”, revealed Niegos who has just been promoted to the rank of Senior Inspector last January 2017.
