Capas, Tarlac - A newly retired police officer was killed by riding-in-tandem criminals on April 03, 2017 while cruising the Mac Arthur Highway in Brgy. Cut-Cut 2nd, Capas, Tarlac.

Tarlac Police Provincial Director PSSupt Ritchie Medardo Posadas identified the victim of “a daring murder” as former police chief inspector Lino Mangrobang.

Posadas disclosed that Mangrobang was shot dead while driving along the Mac Arthur highway on his way to work in Bamban Municipal Hall around 7 AM.

Upon his retirement last year, Mangrobang was designated head of the Municipal Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) of Bamban town where he served as chief of police for more than 2 years.

Mangarobang was driving his red Honda Civic (WSR 826) when he was waylaid by 2 unidentified armed men at the Cut-cut bridge along the Mac Arthur Highway.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Several spent shells of caliber .45 were recovered at the crime scene.

A report says Mangrobang, who lives in Barangay Villapaz in Gerona town, left his house around 6 AM to attend the flag ceremony at the Bamban Municipal building. He was waylaid some 30 kilometers away.

A source who requested his name withheld said, “Ang palagi niyang ginagamit ‘yung (Misubishi) Montero niya. Paano nalaman ng mga killers na ‘yung Honda (Civic) ang dala niya? Malamang sa bahay pa lang niya sa Villapaz may look-out na sila (killers)”.

“Siguradong medyo mabilis ang takbo niya (Mangrobang) sa (Mac Arthur) highway pero malamang nagmenor siya pagdating sa (Cut-Cut) bridge dahil hindi pantay ang kalsada dun kaya siya na-tiyempuhan”, also said the source

Maborang was the second policeman killed within the past 3 weeks. SPO3 Ruben Cortez was also shot dead on board a police mobile car in Barangay Paraiso, Tarlac City, last month.
